About
The Challenger 2 is the crown jewel of the British armor development and was among the most advanced Main Battle Tanks in the world. It has a perfect integration of mobility, firepower and protection. The Challenger 2 is protected by the effective and revolutionary Chobham armor which was also used in M1A1 Abrams. Challenger 2 is equipped with a 120mm L30A1 rifled main gun. However some of the Challengers are equipped with the 120mm Rheinmetall L55 smoothbore main gun for experimentation purposes. The Challenger 2 could also shoot depleted uranium rounds. The new depleted uranium rounds which had a better penetration was under development. It was developed to counter the ever evolving battlefield threats.
