About
The T-64 Main Battle Tank was accepted into service in Soviet Ground Forces in 1966. Coming after the T-55, it became the Soviet Ground Force's Main Battle Tank of the second generation. For the first time ever, the T-64 was equipped with a revolutionary device called autoloader, a device which feed the charge and projectile into the gun's breech. This device greatly reduce the gun loading time and reduce the tank's crew size to only three person, a driver, a commander and the gunner. The implementation of the autoloader also greatly reduce the tank's height thus make it difficult to hit during a battle.
