About

T-80 Main Battle Tank is a third-generation Main Battle Tank of the Soviet Ground Forces. The T-80 tank was accepted into service with the Soviet Ground Forces in 1976. It was the first tank in the world that uses gas turbine engine as its powerplant. The first series of            T-80's were equipped with a 1000 h.p. engine and the later series were equipped with 1250 h.p. engine. Like all Soviet Main Battle Tanks, T-80 also had a low profile, excellent maneuverability and sport a 125mm smoothbore main gun which was stabilised on two-planes. The tank also has a laser rangefinder, a ballistic calculator and gun stabilisers. The recent variant of the T-80 series received a new missile system called "Kobra" in T-80B and "Refleks" in T-80U.
